Our Story

We love everything about film

The big screen, lighting up your face as you frantically soak in the intricate details of the scene. The booming sound that vibrates through you and makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. The stories you're told and the emotions your heart connects with. We love everything about what the cinema brings.

We want you to be able to enjoy that feeling anywhere, together

Suitcase Cinema was borne out of this love of film. When planning a family camping trip, Clare (a visual effects producer, and keen camper!), wanted to bring that experience to the countryside for her family to enjoy, together.

She could just picture it. A clear night, the stars shining above, curled up with warm sleeping bags, totally relaxed. The reality of crowding around an iPad fighting for the best view just didn't appeal.

Clare knew there must be a better way to bring the same magic and excitement you get from a cinema trip, for anyone, anywhere. The more she thought about it the more she realised how useful it could be. Garden parties, get togethers with friends or even indoors watching big events like the World Cup. But after scouring the internet it got quite frustrating.

There was plenty out there but it was either super complicated, needed a mains supply, wasn't quite up to spec or you had to order and house all the elements separately. Nothing was grab and go.

Off script experiences

Clare's passion for film has meant the kit needed to offer the highest quality experience for families and friends to enjoy. We wanted it to replicate the same feeling you get from being at the cinema. But at the same time it needs to be affordable, compact and easy to set up.

Through this journey, we have come to realise the kit can be used in a number of different ways and not just for films or camping. Watching sports, live streaming festivals and TV shows, or even gaming can be epic, whether you are indoors or outdoors.

Suitcase Cinema is about bringing people together for shared experiences

We aim to partner with charities and not-for-profit organisations to provide kits to communities who are not able to enjoy these moments otherwise. We want everyone to enjoy a big screen experience.
